Fishing
I love to fish, and Florida is a great place for it. I used to get a combo license
for fresh and salt water, but now I just get the saltwater. I have a small boat called
a Gheenoe which is a flat
back canoe that is designed not to tip over. It can get into very shallow water and
you can mount a decent size engine on it. I get out whenever I can and go for redfish,
black drum, flounder, snapper, sheepshead and whatever else I can catch. Usually, I
drag my brother along, but my wife used to come with me before our daughter was born.
Collectibles
When I was young I had an ENORMOUS amount of Star Wars figures and vehicles. At 15
my parents made me give them to my cousin as they felt I was too old for them. I remind
them of this often as my collection would be worth over $10,000 dollars today. To
recapture a bit of that time of my life I've started collecting action figures again.
Mostly X-Men, Star Wars, Star Trek and other comic book figures. I have them decorating
the walls in my office at home and I'm proud to say any young boy between 5-12 would
drool seeing my current collection. I don't open anything and never will. Pictures of
my collection will be posted soon.
Computers/Programming/Design
As a graphic designer and web developer I have to keep my skills up constantly. I
also enjoy it. I have a network of several computers set up at home. I run Macs,
Various Windows platforms and Linux. I try to design (this site and others) and program
whenever I can find time. I never thought I would be a techy, but it seems to be
a natural fit for me.
DVDs
I purchased a DVD player when they first came out and cost a LOT more than they do now. I
still have that player and it still works! Movies are very relaxing for me and I like to
watch things over and over till I know the movie as well as I can. I have over 250 titles
in my library now. I slowed down a little since my daughter was born but there are a few
titles I plan to add to my collection soon.
Reading
I love to read. Fiction mostly. I am a big fan of Stephen King and Brian Lumley. Most
people have probably heard of Stephen King. If you've read King and found his writing
scary, Lumley will totally freak you out. I highly recommend the Necroscope series.
Horror is not the only thing I read, far from it, David Eddings is a personal favorite
and I read scores of technical manuals on web technologies. My brother has even written
a few books on Java and web services. Sean Rhody; look him up on Amazon.com.
